MU ALPHA THETA

Mu Alpha Theta is a rough transliteration of math into Greek (MAlpha Theta).  The honor society, which is for high school and two-year colleges, has the goals of inspiring keen interest in mathematics, in developing strong scholarship in the subject, and in promoting the enjoyment of mathematics.  Mu Alpha Theta currently serves over 108,000 student members in over 2,200 chapters in the US and in 20 foreign countries.  

Eligibility for membership is based on the following criteria: Members must have completed the equivalent of two years of college preparatory mathematics, including algebra and/or geometry, and have completed or are enrolled in a third year of college preparatory mathematics.  Members are required to have at least a 3.0 math grade point average.
