Why JCCHS

John Carroll has demonstrated the value of community-focused, mission-driven educational leadership through the pandemic and across its 75 years of producing graduates ready to change their world.  Catholic education, as Pope Francis says, "makes humanity grow according to Christ....educating so as to move from a closed world to an open world; from a throwaway culture to a culture of care; from a culture of rejection to a culture of integration; from the pursuit of vested interests to the pursuit of the common good.”                                                                                                                                                                - Father Jon Chalmers, President

John Carroll’s students come from more than thirty communities throughout the Birmingham region. The students represent all ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. There are six Catholic Partner Schools and more than 18 transfer high schools represented in the John Carroll student population.

I am grateful for teachers who recognized, encouraged and challenged my natural talents; helping me to ultimately envision a career that both challenged those talents and enabled me to be of service to others. - Amy Peterson '01
