The first Trailblazer Legacy coffee featured JC alumni Dr. Deven Mayes Tellis '01 and Hailey Mason '18 who recently authored children's books. Robert C. Smith '66 was in attendance representing the 1964 JC Trailblazers who were honored on September 5th, 2024, sixty years after they integrated John Carroll.

Deven and Hailey took questions from guests and shared their inspirations and reasons for writing their books as well as their experiences creating, publishing, and marketing their books. Thoughtful discussions ensued about how John Carroll can connect these inspirational alumni with current students and their curriculum in the near future.

John Carroll will host the next Trailblazer Legacy coffee in January 2025 featuring alumni who are trailblazing in their careers and vocations. Stay tuned for details. This event is open to the public. We encourage alumni to attend and to invite a friend!
