AP Environmental Sciences Field Trip

🚜 | Recently, Mrs. Gronemeyer designed an immersive field trip focused on agricultural practices for her AP Environmental Sciences students, coinciding with the conclusion of their land and water use unit.

🐔 The journey started at DC Family Farms, where students had the chance to feed chickens and learn about the complexities of raising dairy and beef cattle.

🐮 Next, they traveled to the Cullman Stockyards, where they experienced the thrill of a cattle auction and toured the cattle pens.

🥩 Their adventure then took them to Brickyard Meats, where they received a guided tour of the meat processing facility.

👨‍🌾 Finally, they concluded their day at the Cullman Agriplex, exploring the history of local cattle raising, selecting seeds, and reviewing essential farming practices.

This field trip provided JCCHS students with a first-hand opportunity to observe agricultural practices in action while enhancing their understanding of this crucial industry!

The JCCHS Science Department uses experiences with data analysis, lab work, case studies, and other hands-on classroom activities to develop students who are critical thinkers and independent learners.
