PURCHASING TEXTBOOKS: Summer Reading Required Books and Course Books for 2021-2022

Freshman Students - your final class list/assignments will be mailed to your home very soon!  Once you receive it you can begin shopping for your books!  Or, if you kept a copy of the Blue Form you returned to John Carroll, and you don't expect any changes to the classes that were listed on the form, you can go by those classes when shopping for your books.

Step 1: Familiarize yourself with the required books for the 2021-2022 school year (this includes your summer reading)!  The link (on the right hand side of the page) provides a complete list of required books.  Please review the list carefully.

Step 2: There are several options available when shopping for your student's textbooks for the 2021-2022 school year:

1. BNC Services for a 'virtual' bookstore that provides our student textbook needs.  After you have reviewed the required textbooks for your student(s) for the 2021-2022 school year you can visit https://bnck-12.com/jcchs. You can also access the virtual bookstore through the school website: www.jcchs.org (Click on  Academics, then Textbook List and then see the menu on the right side for
MBSBookstore/BNC).

2. Used Uniform and Textbook Sale: John Carroll will host a Used Uniform and Textbook Sale on Saturday, June 5th from 9am-noon in The Commons.

3. Other online bookstores: You can search and shop other online bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Ebay, etc.

Step 3: Verify you have the correct book prior to purchasing.

Whether you are purchasing your books from a friend, through BNC Services, through the Used Uniform and Book Sale or from another online source, it is important to make sure the ISBN number on the back of the book matches the number on the 2021-2022 Textbook List.  Some
editions might have the same cover but the edition might not be the one required.  The ISBN number is the only accurate way to insure that the correct textbook is being purchased.

* All books and materials listed for each class must be purchased prior to the first day of classes.
** Some classes might require supplemental materials and supplies.
*** Some textbooks and required supplemental materials may be digital.

If you have any question about textbook requirements or the Used Uniform & Textbook Sale you can contact Mrs. Sherry Rowe (srowe@jcchs.org).

Happy Shopping!

TECHNOLOGY: 1:1 Chromebook School
John Carroll is a 1:1 Chromebook school. We have been steadily increasing our technology programs by expanding our network, training faculty, and partnering with Google Apps for Education. Each student having their own Chromebook in the classroom is a big step forward which allows us to take full advantage of the many instructional tools available to teachers and students.

During the 2016-17 school year, we provided teachers with access to two Chromebook carts which were shared throughout the school. As demand grew we added an additional three carts to the fleet in the fall of the 2017-18 school year.  With 100% of our teaching staff now utilizing Google Apps for Education and a demand that our five Chromebook carts could not keep up with we decided that it was more beneficial for our students and teachers to go 1:1 with Chromebooks.

We have taken necessary steps toward providing reliable, consistent access, such as:

  • overhauling our network infrastructure
  • upgrading our bandwidth
  • implementing G Suite for Education tools campus-wide

Chromebooks are fast, durable, and cost-effective devices which are extremely intuitive, have an all-day battery life, as well as integrating seamlessly with our G Suite applications. GoGuardian, our management suite, will be utilized
to ensure we can continue to work with parents and students for positive learning outcomes.  This solution not only affords teachers the ability to manage devices directly in the classroom, it also provides administrators with the capability to filter objectionable content and monitor potentially harmful online behaviors.

For questions regarding technology please contact Jeri Beck at jbeck@jcchs.org

JOHN CARROLL ALMA MATER:
GOD BLESS JOHN CARROLL

God Bless John Carroll
Music and Lyrics by G. D. Jacoby

God bless John Carroll, long may it be
Thy fountainhead of Christianity.
Hear us, O hear us, we Thee implore,
God bless John Carroll High forevermore;
God bless John Carroll High forevermore.
God bless John Carroll, may heaven’s light
Guide our John Carroll High through darkest night.
Dear Alma Mater, onward we soar,
God bless John Carroll High forevermore;
God bless John Carroll High forevermore.
God bless John Carroll, each hallowed hall
Classmates and faculty, God bless them all
Till class reunion on heaven’s shore
God bless John Carroll High forevermore;
God bless John Carroll High forevermore.
