JCCHS ACT CAMP:

This summer, rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders from John Carroll Catholic High School and Over-the-Mountain schools embarked on a transformative journey to conquer the ACT. The specially designed ACT camp aimed to equip students with the tools and confidence needed for the upcoming test in July and future ACTs.

Personalized Instruction for Every Student

Sixty-five students benefited from personalized instruction provided by John Carroll's certified team of ACT instructors and content experts. Before the camp commenced, instructors meticulously reviewed each student's PSAT/ACT historical data to tailor a strategy for maximum improvement. This data-driven approach ensured that every student received the help they needed to excel.

Diverse Learning Styles Catered To

Understanding that students have unique learning styles and goals, the camp offered a variety of instructional methods. In English, students engaged with creative, playful, and thematic content. Math sessions included explanatory reviews and gamified, leveled practice sessions, making learning both effective and fun. For reading and science, students explored strategies, tips, and tricks to maintain focus and progress efficiently.

Expert Instructors and Comprehensive Preparation

The camp's success was driven by a dedicated team of instructors, including Dr. Amanda Giles, Mrs. Julie Clifton, Dr. Katie King, Mrs. Lee Ann Fuller, and Dr. Susan Lagrone. These educators brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring a comprehensive preparation for all attendees.

Partner Spotlight: VIDAL Access

A special highlight of the camp was the involvement of VIDAL Access, founded by Mr. Lance Beverly. Mr. Beverly provided students with a cohesive understanding of the ACT’s significance in college admissions and scholarship processes. To further support their preparation, he generously gifted all attendees a 6-month access pass to Magoosh, an online test prep platform featuring over 250 lessons, 1,300 ACT questions, and full-length practice tests.

Ongoing Resources and Future Opportunities

The support didn't end with the camp. Students have access to a Google Classroom where slides, questions, and extension problems from the camp are readily available, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.

Looking ahead, John Carroll is excited to launch a semester-long ACT Prep Class this fall and will host another summer ACT Camp for 10th-12th grade students next summer from July 7-11, 2025. Don't miss out on this invaluable opportunity to elevate your ACT scores and achieve your academic goals.
