DUAL ENROLLMENT Q&A!
Wednesday, March 15th
6pm | JCCHS Library
Guidance Counselor Ginny McMillan will be available to answer questions regarding Dual Enrollment at JCCHS!
JCCHS is proud to offer 11th and 12th-grade students the opportunity to enroll in college courses concurrently with high school classes and earn college and high school credits simultaneously through our Dual Enrollment Program.
Dual enrollment opportunities at John Carroll include:
-
The University of Alabama Early College
-
Auburn First
Courses from one of these two dual enrollment programs may be completed online, on the John Carroll campus, during regular schools hours. While these college credits are transferable to most in-state public colleges and universities, we advise that you check with the college(s) you are applying to to verify that they will accept the credits. John Carroll cannot ensure credit acceptance by colleges and universities other than UA EC and Auburn First.
Additional information to note:
-
UA Early College and Auburn First allow students to take a maximum of two (2) classes per semester.
-
John Carroll can only accept the approved courses listed for dual enrollment credit (see lists below) on the students’ JCCHS transcript.
-
Students must have a class period during their school day at John Carroll devoted to the course.
-
If the student chooses a course other than the ones listed below, they will receive college credit but not JCCHS credit.
-
John Carroll cannot accept courses taken during the summer for dual enrollment credit.
-
Courses given credit at John Carroll will receive an additional 0.5 quality points toward GPA.
-
Students can begin taking dual enrollment classes through Auburn First and UA Early College as soon as their 10th grade year however these credits will only count towards college (no high school credit is earned in the 10th grade). College and high school credit can be earned in 11th and 12th grades only.
