9th Grade - What Can I Do Now To Prepare For College?
Make a 4-year plan of courses you will take, including classes that will help prepare you for college.
Make the best grades you possibly can.
Commit yourself to extracurricular activities in the school and community.
Research colleges and begin to gather information. Make sure your 4 year plan includes courses they require.
Set Goals.
Learn how the Financial Aid process works and save money towards college if you can.
Remember your GPA counts now, so work hard! All of your courses from now on will be on the transcript sent to colleges.
Develop your skills and talents and follow personal interests.
Turn interests and skills into career possibilities.
Create a portfolio that documents your successes, such as honor roll, civic clubs, and sports recognitions.
As summer approaches, evaluate your goals. Make needed changes to stay on track.
Take advantage of summer academic programs in your area or jobs that interest you. Very important!
Remember, everyone is different. You need to be the best YOU can be.
