- Take advantage college rep visits to JCCHS
- Prepare for the PSAT given in October. Remember this test gives scholarships.
- Prepare for and take the February ACT if not December
- Evaluate your career interests
- Use the Naviance program to inventory your career interests in the spring
- Attend the college planning panel in February. Very important.
- Remember you are expanding postsecondary options with great course work and grade.
- Visit campuses!
- Compare loans and grants in aid
- Talk to the colleges you are considering to see how what scholarships they offer.
- Visit the college counselor in the spring to discuss college options and your senior courses.

Remember to visit colleges during second semester. You may fill out college day forms for this.

Fill out the Brag sheet and packet completely. Little things count. This helps Mrs. Kok to write letters of recommendation for you.

As your resume' changes next year, you will email her a new one.

Add to your resume' all of the activities, community service, honors, part time work that have occurred.

Before you choose senior courses you should check the colleges to which you may apply to see if you will have the courses they expect.

Do something over the summer before your senior year that makes a difference in the world. It will be phenomenal for you.

Learn to write an introspective essay. Tips in college office. Use some of the things you did in the bullet above as essay starters.

Plan to have a college advising appointment in the early summer if you have not done that to this point.
