Vision Statement

John Carroll Catholic High School students will prepare Christ-centered citizens and leaders…for Life!

GOAL 1 – Enhance John Carroll’s Overall Excellence

Context:  While educating students is at the heart of John Carroll’s existence, the school’s leadership remains committed to developing the whole person – body, mind and spirit.  To this end, John Carroll has had a distinct history and a tradition of excellence rooted in the tradition of the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church.  This tradition has created a culture of setting and achieving high standards.  John Carroll must keep the excellence it has achieved and determine ways to extend that excellence to new levels in all areas.

GOAL 2 – Enhance John Carroll’s Emphasis on its Catholicity

Context:  John Carroll is an extension of our parishes, the Catholic community in the greater Birmingham area and beyond.  What makes a John Carroll education unique is a profound respect for the relationship each person has with God, and how each relationship is lived out with others.  John Carroll is fully dedicated to the proclamation of the Gospels of Jesus Christ and an education rooted in the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.

GOAL 3 – John Carroll Will Reflect the Diversity of the Church

Context:  The Roman Catholic Church is a community of every nation, race, language and social class.  As an extension of the Church, John Carroll embraces students and constituents from all races, cultures and social classes.  John Carroll will remain committed to creating a culture of acceptance and support among all students, faculty and constituents – regardless of race, socio-economic background or abilities.

GOAL 4 – Ensure John Carroll’s Overall Organizational Health

Context:  John Carroll must continually consider the overall general state of fiscal stability, the condition of the grounds and facilities and the resources available to maintain modern facilities and programs.  Preservation of a healthy organization is a sacred trust among staff, volunteers, constituents and the community. 

SOLUTION – John Carroll Forevermore Campaign

• Provides funding to hire and retain quality staff committed to excellence and the overall mission of John Carroll.  Provides competitive compensation and benefits for faculty, staff and administrators.

• Extends excellence to new levels in all areas of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs by providing new educational tools.

• Provides for a solid educational environment where 100 percent of our students are prepared for continued education.

• Provides for a new athletic/learning facility and related tools to better prepare our students mentally and physically.

• Refurbishes our athletic fields to provide for safer and more easily maintained playing surfaces that can be more readily and heavily used by our students and this at our partner schools and parishes in the Birmingham region.

• Strengthens John Carroll’s public image relative to its Catholicity and that learners of all faiths are welcome.

• Provides for tools to enhance John Carroll’s service to students with disabilities and unique learning needs.

• Builds John Carroll’s endowment fund, which provides financial assistance to qualifying families.

• Strengthens John Carroll’s ability to enhance student recruitment in a competitive market.

• Provides for the existence and support of state-of-the-art technology.
